He was born December 22, 1928 in Detroit, the son of John and Rose Porte. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert. He was a graduate of St. Vincents High School and worked more than 43 years as a letter carrier for the Postal Service. Dear father of Susan (Richard) Hinshon, Richard (Elizabeth) Porte, Dennis Porte, Michael Porte, Patricia McGraw and Julie (Mark) Vega. Loving grandfather of Said Bin Yunus, Christie McPharlin, Andrew Porte, James Porte, Erin McGraw and Carlo Vega. Great grandfather of Finnegan McPharlin. Also survived by his former wife, Mary Porte. He was devoted to his family and took great pride in their accomplishments. He had a strong work ethic which he passed on to his children and grandchildren, and he always made a point of "taking care of business". A Requiem Mass will be held Thursday 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Prayers at 10:00 am from the Dearborn Chapel of the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 22546 Michigan Ave. Visitation Wednesday 3-8 pm at the funeral home with Rosary at 7:00 pm.
