Born December 17, 1943 to the late Louise and Marion Stanko of Detroit, Michigan. Beloved Husband of Judith Stanko. Ex-husband of Catherine Stanko. Loving Father to Julie (Michael) Solinski and Lori (Patrick) Larreategui. Loving stepfather to Amy Horton (fiance of Kevin Hickey). Proud Grandfather to Luke and Alexandra Larreategui and Tyler Horton. Dearest Brother to Lorraine (Leo) Ksiazek, the late Michael (the late Barbara), and James (Linda). Larry took great pride in his service to his country as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Airborne Division serving in Korea during the Vietnam War. In 1971 he became a stockbroker with PaineWebber and retired in 2002 with UBS. Larry was avid boater and spent many years on his much loved Blue Chip II on Lake St. Clair with the Detroit Boat Club. He was an active member of the Detroit Athletic Club and enjoyed his weekly bowling team. Larry loved the thrill of hunting and fishing but what he is most known for, besides being an amazing and dependable friend, was his talent in cooking and entertaining. He was the absolute life of the party; he loved life, a good meal, a nice drink and a Cuban cigar. He had a heart of gold, spending many years in service with the Capuchins. Larry is also survived by his cousins, many lifelong friends & good buddies. Words cannot express how deeply he will be missed.
