Leon Chas Buker, born in Detroit, Michigan on September 3, 1921 and passed away September 13, 2009 at 88 years old. Leon was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army who fought in the Philippines Papuan, Luzon and New Guinea. He was sent for RR to Brisbane, Australia where he met his 1st wife and mother of his three children Valerie, Beverly, (Deceased) and Noel (Deceased). Leon brought Sylvia and 1½ year old Valerie to Lincoln Park Michigan to live. They lived here for 5 years and Beverly was born, then they all moved back to Australia for 5 years. Leon built his own home while he lived there and also took classes in shearing. He won the lotto and they decided to return to the U.S. Leon took a 3 month boat trip and saw the world, his wife and children followed later by airplane. Sylvia passed away from cancer when she was 40 years old. Leon worked for Ford Motor Company until retirement. He met his present wife, Bernell, and they were married September 2, 1972. They resided in Lincoln Park until their health deteriorated and they spent their last days together at Hearthstone Assisted Living. His parents were Wesley Buker and Maxine Sharon, he was French and a little part Sachs Indian. Leon is survived by his wife Bernell, daughter Valerie (Arthur) Stein, granddaughters Lisa, Kristin, Jennifer, Anne and Deanne, grandsons Tony, Alex, Stephen and Allen. Fourteen great grandchildren and a step grandchild Valerie. Leon loved computers; he could build one from scratch. He also had a computer business and a handyman business.
