In Loving Memory of Leon Janes

Leon Janes, age 73, of Flat Rock, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on April 21, 1952, Leon was a proud father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be remembered for his generous heart, quick wit, and the joy he brought into the lives of those around him.

Leon had a true passion for woodworking. He found comfort and purpose in creating with his hands, crafting pieces that will continue to be treasured by those lucky enough to receive them. His love for building was matched only by his love for a good laugh. A natural jokester, Leon's sense of humor was one of his most defining and beloved traits.

He also enjoyed playing the lottery — always hopeful, always lighthearted — a simple joy that brought him daily delight and matched his fun-loving spirit.

Leon is survived by his four children and their spouses: Rachel, Jason, Brande, and Kim; his seven grandchildren; and one cherished great-granddaughter. His family was the pride of his life, and he lives on in each of them.

A visitation will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home in Taylor, Michigan. A funeral service will follow on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the same location, with a luncheon to follow.

Though he never hit the lottery jackpot, Leon was a true winner in life — loved deeply and remembered with a smile.
