TERNES, LLOYD GIRARD SR.

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on April 13, 2016 at the age of 93.

Lloyd is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Therese Ann (LaFave) of Dearborn.  Beloved father of  Lloyd G. Ternes Jr., his wife Dr. Kathleen Keefe Ternes of Boston, Mass., and daughter Mary Ann Quigley and her husband Kevin of Bloomfield Hills.  Cherished grandfather of Judith and Catherine Ternes, Kathleen (Jordan) Dillon, Meghan, Ryan, Kevin Jr. and Erin Quigley.   Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents George Lambert and Mae Hannah Ternes, stepmother Marguerite (Schroeder) Ternes, siblings Sr. Edna Ternes OSJ, Claire Martin, George Lambert II, Ann Marie FitzGerald, and stepsisters Marguerite Tencza, Joan Potter, Mary Jane and Patricia Schroeder.

Lloyd, a World War II veteran, graduated from Detroit Catholic Central (1941) and the University of Detroit. He was a longtime Dearborn resident and business owner of Ternes Supply Company for 80 years. Together with Therese, they were founding members of Church of the Divine Child in 1950.   An avid Detroit sports fan, Lloyd, known as "Big Lloyd" and the "Paint King", rooted hard and attended as many Tiger, Red Wing and Lions games as possible with family and friends.

Visitation will be Friday April 15th from 2:00-8:00 PM at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 22546 Michigan Avenue, Dearborn.  Lloyd will lie in state at the Church of the Divine Child, 1055 N. Silvery Lane, at 11:30 AM Saturday April 16th, followed by Mass at Noon and internment at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery.   Memorial contributions may be made to IHM Retirement Fund 610 West Elm Avenue, Monroe Michigan 48162.
