Obituary

Lola Josephine "Nanny" Szeliga, age 100, passed away March 2nd, 2019 in St. Clair, Michigan.

She joins her beloved husband of 57 years, Frank Szeliga, in eternal peace.
Proud mother of Carole (Maury) Westerdale and Frank (Renny) Szeliga.
Caring grandmother to Sheryl Westerdale, Susan (Billy) Parra, and Kristen (Gary) Griner.
Dear great-grandmother of Nicole, Joey, Carole, Jacquelyn, and Garret, and great-great-grandmother of Colin, Luke, Rubie, Maxwell, and Tristan.

Lola was a fascinating woman who lived a fulfilling life. She loved cooking with her husband and gardening various veggies and herbs. She traveled to many different corners of the world with her family: Hawaii, Alaska, and China. Lola loved to collect antiques, especially dolls. Her collection is full of rare finds and she eventually boasted a troupe of over 1000 dolls! Her name lives on through Nanny's Nursery in Taylor, operated by her granddaughter Sheryl.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 7 from 5:30-9PM. The funeral will be Friday, March 8 at 10:30AM. All services will be located at the Taylor Chapel of Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 9800 Telegraph. Lola will be laid to rest at St. Hedwig cemetery thereafter. Memorials in Lola's memory may be made out to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation .
