Obituary

Loraine A. (Stolp) Love passed away peacefully at the age of 100. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, on September 9th, 1925, to her loving parents, Walter and Alvina Stolp. Loving mother to Donna Jean (the late Jim) Brixey of Little Rock and Wendy Ann (Paul) Love-Ohms of Taylor, along with her 5 grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.

Loraine was a long time member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, and was baptized there on September 27, 1925. She attended St. Matthew Lutheran School through the eighth grade and was confirmed on April 6, 1941, by Pastor H. Metzger. Her favorite Bible verse was, "Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass." — Psalm 37:5.

Loraine attended Chadsey High School through the eleventh grade before beginning work during the war at Cadillac Motor Car Company in the blueprint division. She later worked in the main office of S.S. Kresge in the filing and accounting department for six years, and then at Gaubis Booking and Accounting Firm for 25 years.

Loraine married Vernon R. Love on March 2nd. 1951, at St. Matthew. Together they raised three perfect and wonderful children, all of whom were baptized, confirmed, and educated there. Their son David graduated from St. Matthew, while Wendy and Donna went on to graduate from public high school.

The family is deeply grateful for the kindness and care shown by the entire team from the Hospice Care Team.

Loraine especially loved the hymn that she always sang: "Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah, Pilgrim through this barren land; I am weak, but Thou art mighty, Hold me with Thy powerful hand."
