Lucy A. Ryder, age 97, died peacefully at her home in Chicago, IL, on Monday, Apr 3, 2017. Author and illustrator of "Memories Out Loud," a history of life during the Great Depression and World War II, Lucy was born Jan 4, 1920, in Detroit, the daughter of Lucy (Alacoque) and Clifford J. Barry, and older sister of the late Clifford (Betty) Barry and Edward (Betty) Barry. She married Albert I. Ryder on Jun 5, 1943, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dearborn. He preceded her in death on Aug 22, 1996. She is survived by her two daughters, Suellen Tobe and Barbara (Ralph) Iscaro; two sons, Barry (Deborah) Ryder and Scott Ryder; beloved grandchildren Tara (Gary) Gantert, Kelly (late Kim Jackson) Katchmar and Jody (Steve) Ayers, precious great-grandchildren Kyle, Valerie, Natalie, Samantha, and Megan, and dear nieces and nephews.
Memorial Mass will be held at 7 PM, Wednesday, Apr 12, 2017, at St Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 2324 West Chase Avenue, Chicago, IL 60645.
Visitation will be held
Monday, Apr 17, 2017, at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 22546 Michigan Ave, Dearborn, MI, from
2 PM to 8 PM (7 PM Rosary with
Deacon Michael Neba).
Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, Apr 18, 2017

in-state viewing at 10:30 AM), at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 22430 Michigan Ave, Dearborn. A luncheon will follow, then the committal service at St. Mary's Cemetery in Wayne.
