Margaret V.
Engstrom
January 17, 1930 – November 4, 2021
Margaret V. Engstrom was born on January 17, 1930 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada to her beloved parents Ray and Margaret McKenney and older brother Ray (Joan) McKenney. Known to many as Marge, she was also a mum, wife, sister, friend and Nannie. Margaret was mother to Ann (Pat) Drake, Jay Robertson and Mary Beth (Mark) Martin. She was also step-mother to Conley (Elizabeth) Engstrom, Karen (Michael) Hirsch, Kristine (Jim) Fontichiaro and John (Miriam) Engstrom. Marge married her soul mate Fred Engstrom on September 14, 1984. Together they shared 13 grandchildren. Margaret was a beloved and cherished Nannie to Megan (Brian), Joe, Michael, Fredrick (Anna), August (Jessica), Nicholas, Alan, Christopher (Amy), Katie, Michael (Catherine), Ian, Sophie and Miles. She was blessed to have 4 great grandchildren; Eleanor, Margaret Rose, Porter and Viktor.
Margaret retired after 25 years from Beaumont Dearborn (Oakwood) Hospital going on to become a trustee and foundation member. She then spent 15 years volunteering in the hospital's Emergency Department and Cath Lab. Marge was an avid gardener, often admiring her flowers from the back window, where she also loved bird watching. She was a member of the Dearborn Garden Club. Marge was a talented seamstress, fan of theater, live music, travel, reading and loved playing bridge and golf. We'd be remiss not to mention her love for a good beer. She was extremely proud of her Canadian/Scottish heritage and passed along many songs and traditions to her family, as well as being a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews in the UK. Marge was a proud member of First Presbyterian Church in Dearborn where she believed the Lord came first and foremost because without him there is nothing. As the matriarch of a large and blended family she found herself becoming a mentor, friend and confidant to so many.
