Obituary

Margaret Angelyn Humbles passed away peacefully on August 2, 2021 at the age of 85.

Margaret was born in Detroit, MI to Michael and Angelyn Cafferty on April 4, 1936. She was the second of four daughters. Her family later moved to Inkster, MI. Margaret attended St. Mary's High School in Wayne, MI and graduated in 1954. She met Lawrence LeRoy Humbles while he was home on leave from the United States Air Force. They were married in 1954 and bought a house in Taylor, MI. They raised 4 children in their home; Cheryl, Debbie, Mike and Mark.

Margaret was a great cook, her roast beef and noodles, fried chicken, biscuits and gravy, homemade pies, and cookies were much in demand for family gatherings and will never be forgotten. She enjoyed summers at the trailer on Portage Lake with her children, her sisters, and many nieces and nephews. Later in life, she spent her time at the lake with her grandchildren. Margaret loved to bowl. She bowled on a league with family and friends for many years. Another one of her passions was crafting. Crochet, plastic canvas, beading / jewelry, ceramics and fabric painting to name a few. She was always working on something.

As her children grew up, married, and made her a grandmother, she eagerly anticipated all family events celebrating the milestones. She loved all the birthdays, weddings, and especially the new born babies. She adored her grandchildren and was always there for them. Life only got better when those same grandchildren made her a great-grandmother.

Margaret is survived by her husband of 67 years, LeRoy. Her 4 children; Cheryl (Patrick) Theisen, Debbie (Larry) Best, Michael (Michelle) Humbles and Mark (Heather) Humbles, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Kathy (Ron) Graham along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by her sisters, Patricia Gustitus and Marie Kidd.
