Margaret
Kosmalski
July 14, 1915 – April 29, 2018
MARGARET LOUISE CAROLIN E KOSMALSKI
Margaret Kosmalski passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, April 29, 2018 at the age of 102.
Margaret was born on July 14, 1915 in Detroit, Michigan. She was the oldest of three daughters born to William and Louise Kowalski. Her two younger sisters, Edna and Caroline, predeceased her.
Margaret received her Christian Day school education at St. Matthew Lutheran School in Detroit. She graduated from Detroit Southwestern High School. Even as she got older, she could still remember several of her teachers and fellow students with fondness. Her short-term memory may have been slipping, but it was easy to get her to talk about the past, especially about school and some of her close friends and relatives who passed away many years ago.
She married Chester Kosmalski on June 15, 1940. They had three children, Kenneth (1943), Ronald (1945) and Karen (1950), all of whom received their Christian education from St. Matthew. Chester passed away on September 2, 1983. They were happily married for over 43 years, bringing their children up in "the nurture and admonition of the Lord".
Margaret showed her Christian Stewardship in a variety of ways. She assisted in Vacation Bible School as far back as the 1950's as well as the 1980's. She was especially good with Arts and Crafts. She was also a member of the St. Matthew Altar Guild, assisted at the Wednesday Hot Lunch program during the school year and assisted one of the teachers by reading to her students on several mornings during the school year. She also used her sewing ability by making costumes for her daughter when St. Matthew put on Gilbert and Sullivan musicals in the parish hall. She remained a member at St. Matthew until it closed in 2007. Afterward, she attended Mt. Hope Lutheran Church in Allen Park, Michigan.
Unknown waves before me roll, Hiding rock and treacherous shoal.
Chart and compass come from Thee: Jesus, Savior, pilot me.
Boisterous waves obey Thy will when Thou sayest to them, "Be still!"
Wondrous Sovereign of the sea, Jesus, Savior, pilot me.
'Twixt me and the peaceful rest, Then, while leaning on Thy breast,
May I hear Thee say to me, "Fear not, I will pilot thee."
She leaves behind many wonderful memories for her children Kenneth (Joyce), Ronald (Cindy) and Karen (John), grandchildren Lisa (Kress) Riley and Kimberly Kosmalski and three great grandchildren, Erin and Justin Riley and Kayla Cox (Kimberly 's daughter). She also leaves behind two nephews, Robert (Marilyn) Alldredge and Richard Williams and one niece, Diane (Richard) Conrad.
Because Margaret led a Christian life in thought, word and deed, she will be among those whose names are written in "The Book of Life" receiving the "Crown of Life" and the "White Robe of Righteousness" which Jesus promises in the Book of Revelation to all who remain steadfast in the Christian faith.
