Marie L. Brehob of Dearborn passed away on September 27, 2020 at the age of 84.  Born in Indianapolis as Marie Lena Schrader, she graduated from Manual High School and married Wayne Brehob, her high school sweetheart, in 1956.  After their marriage, the newlyweds moved to West Lafayette, Indiana where Wayne was a student at Purdue University.

The family began growing in West Lafayette and continued to expand when they moved to Dearborn, Michigan in 1963 where Marie lived for the remainder of her life.  Marie was well-versed in the skills of homemaking having been called upon, as a young girl, to assume the household duties when her mother became ill. Transferring these skills to her own home and family, Marie was legendary for her ability to keep a pristine home,  put an endless supply of delicious meals on the table, all while juggling six children whose play clothes were, miraculously, always ironed.

Bright and gifted in many areas, Marie could have pursued any career path she might have chosen, but found happiness and satisfaction in being the behind the scenes encourager and facilitator for her husband's academic and professional goals.  Later, she would continue in that same supportive role in the lives of her six children as they pursued their many interests.

One constant that ran the course of Marie's life was her love of music, especially hymns, worship and choral music. She blessed many weddings with her beautiful soprano voice. One of her favorite solos to perform was The Lord's Prayer.  She was a long-time member of Emmanuel Church and sang in the choir for many years.

Shortly before her passing, from advanced Alzheimer's disease, Marie attempted to respond and vocalize to a familiar hymn that was being sung to her.  It seemed appropriate, and comforting to those who love her, that this would be the sweet finale to an earthly life spent praising her Lord.  It is with great gratitude that we can say, with confidence, that this will be her eternal joy.

Marie was the loving wife of Wayne for 64 years. Cherished mother of Diana Brehob (Todd Kappauf), Janel (James) deVries, Ellen Brehob, Karen (Douglas) MacKenzie, Aimee Dahl, and Wayne Brehob. Proud grandmother of John, Jacob, James, Emily, Collin, Brianna, Austin, Meredith, Elise, and Carolyn. Great-grandmother of Lucie, Everett, Elizabeth, and Edith.

Visitation at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dearborn Chapel, 22546 Michigan Avenue, Dearborn, MI, on Thursday, October 1st from 5-7pm. There will be an 11am service at Emmanuel Lutheran Church (800 S. Military St.) on Friday, October 2nd. Instate at church begins at 10am. Masks are required at the funeral home and church.

Interment Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park in Livonia, MI.
