Marilyn Joan Blanch
Marilyn Blanch passed away April 11, 2018 at age 92.
Beloved wife of the late Edward James Blanch, for 66 years.
Loving mother of Susan (Paul) Meister, Edward (Connie) Blanch, Karen (Trevor) Page, Mary (John) Smyth, and Ellen Blanch.
Proud grandmother of Katherine & Carolyn Meister; Colleen & Edward Blanch; Claire, Jacob & Alexander Smyth.
Marilyn devoted her life to her husband and family.
Marilyn was born in New Hartford, NY to Bert and Leona (Detzel) Fisher. Sister to Howard (Nancy) Fisher, Thomas (Charlotte) Fisher, Carol (Joseph) Scholl, and Marjorie (Edwin) Lazicki. Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
She graduated from St. Elizabeth's Training School for Nurses in Utica, NY in 1946. Prior to her August 11, 1951 marriage, she worked as nurse in Harlem and Utica, NY. For many years, she volunteered for numerous Catholic charities, institutions and medical facilities, including Vista Maria and Eloise Hospital. She was also named Catholic Woman of the Year by the Archdiocese of Detroit.
Marilyn was an avid golfer, bowler, and tennis player. She also enjoyed travel, bridge, and pinochle.
Marilyn and Edward were longtime residents of Dearborn, MI prior to moving to Ann Arbor, MI in 2015. They were devoted parishioners at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dearborn since 1954. She was a longtime member of the Sacred Heart Tabernacle Society.
In state Saturday, April 21, 2018 10:30am with Funeral Mass at 11:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 22430 Michigan Avenue, Dearborn.
Visitation Friday, April 20, 2018, 3:00pm-8:00pm with a Rosary at 7:00pm at the Dearborn Chapel of the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 22546 Michigan Avenue.
Burial at Mt. Kelly Cemetery, Dearborn.
