Marilyn L.
Perry
June 2, 1943 – July 15, 2021
Marilyn Perry, 78, of Taylor passed away Thursday, July 15, 2021 after living an amazing life.
A celebration of life will be held at Howe-Peterson of Taylor on Tuesday, July 20
th
, 2021, at 4pm with Deacon Tim Ferrier officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2pm to 4pm.
Marilyn graduated from Taylor Center High School and Henry Ford Community College with a degree in Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. Throughout her career she worked for several local hospitals including Heritage, Outer Drive (Lynn) and St. Mary Mercy in the Operating Room as a surgical nurse and later for Henry Ford on advanced eye surgeries. She has volunteered her time in 21 years of retirement serving Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, Clowns for Christ, Central Detroit Christian, Downriver Mentoring Center, and many other organizations.
She really enjoyed music and had an incredible singing voice, sharing her talent by entertaining family and as a wedding singer. She loved to visit friends and family, and was always on the go to the next event. She was very involved with her children and grandchildren in addition to having made many lasting friendships over the years. Marilyn delighted in traveling, the theatre, and making blankets (which she also donated).
Marilyn was a caring sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She had a great sense of humor and was fun to be around. She was always there to help someone in need. She made friends wherever she went; the grocery store, a restaurant, or a parking lot. She lived life to the fullest. Anyone that spent time around Marilyn knew they were valued and important to her. She always gave great advice and had a way of turning a difficult situation into a positive one.
Marilyn was the beloved wife of the late Paul Perry. Loving mother of Marilyn Stewart (Earl), Melissa VanFleet, and Heather Spencer (Gordon). Cherished grandmother of Jacquelyn Toler, Alexis Stewart, Elric VanFleet, Garion VanFleet, Paige Wilk-Spencer, Sylena VanFleet, and Aubrey Schultz. Dear sister of Yvonne Hale (Alan), John Miles (Jan), Don Miles, and the late Bill Miles.
