Mark Alan Hintz, age 65, formerly of Rudyard, Michigan, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026.

Born on August 27, 1960, Mark grew up in the Eastern Upper Peninsula (EUP) and graduated from Rudyard High School with the Class of 1978. Following graduation, he proudly entered the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for the duration of his enlistment. Upon his honorable discharge, Mark returned home to the EUP to continue his education, first attending Lake Superior State University (then Lake Superior State College) before earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Central Michigan University. Mark spent his career working in various roles across the hospitality industry, a field that suited his engaging personality.

Mark truly enjoyed life and was never one to back down from a lively debate. Armed with an expansive vocabulary, he frequently left others rushing to look up his words in the dictionary. He loved taking trips to Las Vegas and found great joy in betting on sporting events. A true “live in the now” person, Mark never spent time worrying about tomorrow. His life philosophy was perfectly captured by a Huey Lewis and the News line: “We’re Not Here for a Long Time (We’re Here for a Good Time)”.

Mark is survived by his sister, Judy; his brother, Ron; and his nephews, Richard and James. He was preceded in death by his mother, Herta; father, Joe; one sister, Jill; and his nephews, Michael and David.

Mark’s sharp wit and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

No formal service will be held. A ‘Celebration of Life’ will be scheduled at a future time.
