Mark David Ritthaler
(September 21, 1960 – February 26, 2023)
Mark D. Ritthaler, of Van Buren Township, passed away at the age of 62 on February 26, 2023. Mark was born to Marvin and Joan of Lincoln Park, MI on September 21, 1960. Mark attended Calvary Lutheran Church, Lincoln Park, and then graduated from Detroit Lutheran West where he excelled in many areas, especially in acting and singing. He went to Concordia Ann Arbor. He worked in the trucking business. He also had many passions. He loved baseball, the Detroit Tigers, coaching, and especially Umpiring which he was a part of Little League District 5 for Lincoln
Park, and Taylor for 25 years. Another passion was working on cars and he owned three 1969 Oldsmobile 442s. Mark's real passion was singing. He sang with the St. Matthew Lutheran Choir for many years and even after losing his eyesight, he continued to praise God with his voice.
Mark was preceded in death by his Father, Marvin, and lovely wife Janine of 14 years. He is survived by his mother Joan (Bowie) Ritthaler, his siblings, Cynthia (Roderick) Socull, John Ritthaler, Matthew (Lisa) Ritthaler, Rachel (David) Jaroszewicz, Jeffrey (Carrie) Ritthaler, and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 5885 N. Venoy Rd, Westland on Saturday, March 4, 2023, with visitation @ 10 am and Celebration of Life @ 11 am. Contributions to the Diabetes Association or to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Westland would be appreciated by the family.
