Baumgartner
October 29, 1937 – March 7, 2020
Marsha K. Baumgartner was born October 29 th , 1937 in Hartville, Missouri to the late Manie and Ruby Newton and she grew up in nearby Mountain Grove. Upon graduating from Mountain Grove High School, Marsha attended Harris Teachers College in St. Louis. She met George R. Baumgartner while in St. Louis and they were married in 1957 and moved to Rolla, Missouri. Within a few years their sons George and Alan were born. A career change brought the family to Dearborn in 1966. Marsha began classes at Wayne State University and graduated with elementary and secondary education bachelor's degrees and later obtained a Master of Arts in Library Science through the University of Michigan. She taught for more than 16 years in the Livonia Public School system, ultimately heading the Media Center at Churchill High School. She enjoyed travelling to Hawaii, Europe, Australia and more with her late husband. Marsha was an avid quilter and an accomplished sewer. She loved reading, gardening and bird watching. Marsha was devout and enjoyed serving as a deacon and elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Dearborn. She was a loving and devoted wife of 49 years, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Marsha will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
