Mary Kathleen Cieslak (nee Haggerty) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving husband and daughters.
Born April 4, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan, Mary lived a selfless life filled with love and laughter.
She attended St. Martin School in Detroit from K-12, and is truly a life-long Cadet.
She was a beloved parishioner of St. Maria Goretti Church, formerly St. Sebastian for over fifty years, and was happy and willing to volunteer. She Especially loved taking communion to home bound parishioners, and would visit with them sometimes for hours on end.
She found immense joy in spending time with her family – everything from backyard BBQ’s, to school functions for the grandchildren, to weddings, and everything in between!
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, Robert, her daughters Christine (Mark) Dutkiewicz, Diane (Matthew) Cohen, and Angela (Robert) Yancey, Grandchildren Julia Davis, Zachary (Allison) Cohen, Mary (Daniel) Kolpasky, Sabrina Yancey, Hannah Cohen, Luke Cohen, and Benjamin Yancey, brother George Haggerty, Brothers-in-law, Ronald (Lynn) Cieslak, Randall Cieslak, Russell (Janet) Cieslak, Sisters-in-law, Ann (Nick) Bolas, Alexis (the late Ron) Suppanz, Andrea (Nick) D’Alessandro, Arlene (James) Gillespie, Alicia (Clay) Campbell, Adrienne (Brant) Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Mary Haggerty (nee Galbraith), brothers Michael (Julie) Haggerty, William (the late Pat) Haggerty, brother-in-law Richard Cieslak, Raymond (Linda) Cieslak, Ralph Cieslak and Roderick Cieslak.
She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and many friends living and deceased whom she loved dearly.
She led a virtuous life and her reward finds her dancing in heaven with all the angels and saints.
Visitation will be Monday, June 29th from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the Dearborn location of the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home and Cremation Services 22546 Michigan Avenue, 48124. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday 10:00 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 3965 Merrick St, Dearborn Heights, MI 48125. Interment Our Lady of Hope Catholic Cemetery, Brownstown Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to Right To Life of Michigan
