Mary Janet Grant, age 87, was born on December 16, 1938, in Toledo, Ohio, to Henry V. and Mary (Gilbert) Boyer. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Ann (Fred) King and Pamela Wunderlin; and her brother Henry Boyer.

Janet graduated from Central Catholic High School in Toledo and attended the University of Toledo for two years. Prior to her marriage, she worked for Owens-Illinois in Toledo. After marrying the love of her life, Owen B. Grant, the couple made their home in Dearborn, Michigan, where they raised their family.

Janet is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Owen B. Grant; her five children, David (Joanne) Grant, Bernard Grant, Kathleen Grant, Brian Grant, and Jennifer Grant; and her eight beloved grandchildren, Brian O. Grant, Ashley Watson (Patrick), Meghan Grant, Jeffrey Grant (Karen), Ariana Grant, Rebecca Grant, Joshua Grant, and Riley Grant. She also leaves behind seven cherished great-grandchildren: Paisley and Weston Watson; Rowen and Miles Grant; Jude and Nova Grant; and Lunetta Akers. She is also survived by her brother Robert Boyer(Sue), and her sister Jackie Boyer. Janet will also be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

A gifted watercolor artist, Janet found great joy in creating and sharing her artwork. She was an active member of The Artists’ Society of Dearborn, where she served as an officer for many years, and was also a member of the Detroit Society of Women Painters and Sculptors. Janet worked at Lynch’s Costume Shop for many years before retiring.

A faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dearborn, Janet participated in the church Bell Choir and was deeply involved in her parish community. She also taught religious education classes at Sacred Heart, sharing her faith and helping guide young parishioners in their spiritual growth. She enjoyed teaching watercolor classes at Allegria (formerly Henry Ford Village), inspiring others to explore their creativity. Beyond her artistic pursuits, Janet loved reading, golfing, and spending time with her family, who were the center of her life.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, Dearborn Michigan. A Rosary service led by the Knights of Columbus will take place at 7:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dearborn. Janet will lie in state at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. A memorial luncheon will be held at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall immediately following the service.

Janet will be interred at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan, at a later date.
