Obituary

Mary Groves, a lifelong resident of Dearborn, lived a long, full, productive life.  She is survived by her daughter Ann Groves Goldfeder, her son John Groves, Allan Goldfeder (son in law), Grandchildren Joshua and Brooke Goldfeder, Daniel Goldfeder, Mary Robertson, Great-granddaughters Ezra Rose & Olivia James Goldfeder.  Many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband John Groves, her son Douglas Groves, and daughter Linda Robertson.

Mary was a lifelong learner, graduated from Wayne State University, went on to earn two Masters Degrees at University of Michigan.  She was a high school English teacher and social worker.  In her spare time, Mary was an avid reader, member of the American Association of University Women and the Great Books Society as well as many other organizations. She attended the First United Methodist Church and Unitarian Universalist Church.  Mary was an activist for Civil Rights and Amnesty International. She believed strongly in preserving human rights for all people.

Mary was a member of the Dearborn Health & Racquet Club.  Once she moved to Beaumont Commons she continued to exercise, joined the book club and the Writers club.  Mary was outgoing, made friends easily and had an uncanny way of connecting on a memorable level.  She was immensely proud of her Scottish Heritage and annually attended gatherings of St. Andrews Society on Boblo Island with her family.  A private family funeral was held at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
