Mary Louise (Buchanan) Klingel

February 22, 1932 – January 17, 2023

Mary was the only child of Louise and Charles Buchanan. She was born and raised in Jefferson City Missouri where at 19 years old she met and married  her husband of 65 years, Bill Klingel. She then became the mother of 4 daughters Sheri, Susan, Sally and Stacey.

Mary never passed up an opportunity to to be with friends, dance, go to the theater, a museum or to travel. She passed her love of the  arts and literature along to her children with whom she shared many plays, musicals and art exhibits. She played the piano beautifully  and left the memory of childhood naps to Claire deLune and sing-alongs for her family.

At the core of Mary's life was her family, Catholic faith and education. She was intentional in assuring her daughters had access to education and experiences that allowed them to explore their own paths in life. She marveled at the opportunities those gifts gave them.

Mary had an amazing sense of style, the ability to crack a joke at the most intense moments, a flair for dramatic presentation of just about everything, and the warmth and kindness of a child.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws, Sheri and Emmett Windisch, Sally Klingel and Phillip Donovan, Stacey and Fraser Duncan, 5 cherished grandchildren Katie, Emmett, Susanne, Cameron and Will and one great grandchild, Finley.

Mary's funeral service will be Monday, 11:00 a.m. at the Dearborn Chapel of the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home.  22546 Michigan Ave. Dearborn 48124.  Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m.  Interment St. Hedwig Catholic Cemetery.
