Maryellen Gertrude Gleason, 80, of Lincoln Park, Michigan, passed away on September 11, 2026. Maryellen was born June 14, 1946, the daughter of the late Howard and Mary Johnson. Maryellen is the loving mother of three children, Faith Szilagy, John (Kelly) Nichols, and Sarah Gleason. The grandmother of Brian Nichols, Drew Nichols, the late Madalyn Szilagy, and Eli Nichols. The sister of the late Nancy Maki, and the aunt of Melisa (Matt) O’Connor and Mary Lou (Dallas) Kennedy.

Throughout her life, Maryellen was known for her strong faith, strength, kindness, and the way she genuinely cared for people. She had a way of making people feel supported, cared for, and loved. Her family and faith in Jesus were always at the center of her life, and her joy was often contagious.

She loved football, baking, knitting, embroidery, gardening, and game shows. She especially loved the holidays, family gatherings, and making memories with loved ones. Some of her happiest times were simply having everyone together.

Being a mom and grandma meant everything and even in her final days she made sure they each knew how much they meant to her.

Visitation will take place at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 3880 Fort St. Lincoln Park on Thursday, September 17 from 2:00-8:00pm. The funeral for Maryellen will take place on Friday, September 18 at 11:30am with family greeting friends beginning at 10:00am at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home.
