Matthew L Piernick, aged 72, passed away in his home in Dearborn Heights on Feb 9, 2018 after an inspiring, hard-fought, 12 year battle with lung cancer.  Matt was defined by the people in his life - he cared deeply about his family and made friends with everyone he met. He had a fantastic sense of adventure in life and was always up for a new challenge or learning something new.  Matt was an active member of the community, an avid golfer, and passionate about his MSU Spartans - doing all of these things with the family and friends he loved so much. He is survived by his sons Adam and David, his sister-in-law Margie Piernick, sister-in-law Judi (Rick) Levitt, brother-in-law Jim (Debbie) Bowman and the many other family members and friends whose lives he touched.  A memorial gathering for Matt and his brother Tom will be held on Friday, June 29 from 4-7PM and a service will be held on Saturday, June 30 at 11AM.
