Matthew Jack VanOoyen passed away unexpectedly on November 7, 2021 at the age of 40.  Matthew was born on July 18, 1981 in Wayne, Michigan.

Matthew was definitely true to his middle name, Jack, he was a Jack of All Trades.  There wasn't anything he wouldn't tackle, whether it be dry wall, painting, building decks, wiring, speakers or installing a hot tub.

He always enjoyed a good game of ice hockey in the backyard, basketball in the driveway, baseball at the park or even volley ball at a Father's Day picnic. One of his dad's best memories is building snowmen with him, they built 4 – one for each of them.

He also enjoyed fishing and when he was young, he and his brothers would play chess.

Beloved father of Kailey Marie VanOoyen.

Loving son of Dianne and Greg (Elizabeth).

Devoted brother of Joshua (Amanda), Randall, and Jeremy.

Cherished uncle of Haiden, Noah, Ava Ann, and Ella Grace.

Dear grandson of Donna Downey.

Also survived by many uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Matthew was predeceased by his loving fiancé, Elizabeth Koch; and grandparents: JoAnn Dubisky (John Slebodnick), Charles Dubisky, Jack (Wanda) VanOoyen, and Earl Downey.

He loved watching football and never missed a Michigan game or the Lions.

A Celebration of Life service will be 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29th at The Dearborn Chapel of the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home.  Memorial

gathering will be Saturday 4:00-9:00 p.m.
