Born on August 16, 1930. Son of Louis and Bertha Roose. Brother of Helen Cendrowski and Edward (all deceased). Father to Joe (Martha), Mike (Teresa), Tom, (Lynn), Carol (John), Susan and Paul (Steveanna). Grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather of 5.

Dad was born above the rectory at Sacred Heart church (Dearborn) and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1948. He attended Detroit Business College for a year, spent two years in the army, and afterwards a year at Sacred Heart Seminary. He then started his career as an electrician, working for Penn Electric and eventually retiring from IBEW local 158 at age 62 in 1992.

Dad married Helen Penn in 1953 and with her raised 6 children. We all enjoyed spending the summers at our cottage on Cass Lake, and Dad would make time after commuting to and from work in Dearborn to play softball and volleyball with family and neighbors. Dad enjoyed boating throughout his life and was an excellent water skier. He played softball, volleyball and golf into his 80's.

Like his father Louis and brother Ed, Maurice was a passionate card player. Especially later on in his life he played whenever he got the chance (especially Pinochle).

Dad was a gifted singer, and sang for many years in the choir at Our Lady of Refuge (Orchard Lake) and Our Lady of the Lakes (Waterford). He could also play the piano and would play at family and other gatherings.

In his later years dad enjoyed reading romance novels and listening to music. Dad married Clara Pappas in 1983 and after Clara died married Helen Smith in 2000. After many years living on Cass Lake Dad moved to a lake in Waterford, and eventually to a memory care facility in West Bloomfield.

Funeral Liturgy 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church,  22430 Michigan Ave, Dearborn, MI 48124. Visitation Saturday 10:15 a.m. at church.  Interment Monday 11:00 a.m. at Mt Kelly Cemetery, Dearborn.  Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice in memory of dad.
