Max E. Reimer

Max Eliott Reimer, 78, of Houston, Texas, formerly a longtime resident of Dearborn, Michigan, passed away on February 20, 2026.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Max was the son of the late Everett Reimer and Betty (Lidholm) Reimer. He grew up in Dearborn, graduating from Edsel Ford High School before continuing his education locally. He earned an Associate degree from Henry Ford Community College, a Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University, and a Master’s degree from Wayne State University.

Max proudly served his country in the United States Army after being drafted during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he dedicated his career to education and his passion for mechanics. He began his teaching career as an auto shop instructor at Fordson High School before returning to his alma mater, Edsel Ford High School, where he spent the remainder of his career teaching and mentoring students until his retirement in 2006.

An avid car enthusiast, Max loved working with his hands. He possessed a lifelong passion for muscle cars, with a particular fondness for Corvettes. In his retirement, he closely followed world news and the stock market, and cherished his regular trips to Iowa to visit family. Max was a deeply disciplined man who carried a tough, resolute demeanor, but those close to him knew and appreciated his sharp sense of humor during the rare times he opened up.

He is survived by his son, Eric (Megan) Reimer of Dearborn, MI; his two beloved grandchildren, Olivia (10) and Logan (8); his sisters Kathie (Steven) Gates of Sun Lakes, AZ, Deborah Lucus (George Edelmann) of San Diego, CA; brothers William (Lillian) Reimer of Houston, TX, Alan (Nancy) Reimer of Des Moines, IA; sister-in-law Jami Alexopoulos Metsinger of Shawnee, KS; several nieces and nephews; a great nephew and great niece.

Max was preceded in death by his father, Everett, in 1989; his mother, Betty, in 2014; and his brother, Jerry, in 1994.
