Maxine O.
Callaghan
April 25, 1927 – July 22, 2020
MAXINE O. CALLAGHAN. Predeceased in death by her husband, Dr. Regis Callaghan and her daughter , Sharon E. Callaghan, her parents Viola and Wilfred MacLean and her brother Harold MacLean. Survived by her devoted daughter Patricia A. Callaghan (Monarch Beach, Ca) and her beloved grandson, Aaron P. Maier-Denk (Ann Arbor, Mi); by the extended Maier-Denk family and relatives of the Callaghan and MacLean families; her "Family of Friends" at The Henry Ford and the Dearborn CC.Her long and healthy life could be attributed to her feisty spirit, staying fit and preparing healthy meals. Whether on the beach on Marco Island or in the snows of Michigan winter, she took her long walks regularly. She enjoyed playing golf until just a few years ago, losing many of her dear contemporaries over the years. Her mental acuity was never compromised in age: completing crossword puzzles and being an avid reader most every day. She had a soft spot for dogs, sweets, a tan and birdwatching in her yard. When her relatives, friends and neighbors checked in on her (though adamantly independent), she felt very special. As a Scot and a Taurus, she was oftentimes stubborn but you could always count on her to be a truthful Lady. "Nan", as she was affectionately called, looked forward to gourmet family dinners with the Maier-Denk's. She was a devoted volunteer all her adult life but none more enjoyable than at The Henry Ford...in the Museum, in the Village, in the gardens ,with the Herb Society and her group of adventurers. Living her earlier years in Nova Scotia, Canada, she later became a proud American citizen and patriot after moving to the US with her family. Her friends and family gave her the utmost joy. She was looking forward to many more years of vibrant life. I hope you'll see a shooting star someday and think of her with a smile. In lieu of any flowers, donations would be welcome at The Henry Ford http://giving.thehenryford.org . Please leave an online condolence to comfort the family.
