Mee Ha "Mary" Hong, 82, of Taylor, passed away on March 24, 2025 in Dearborn, Michigan. Mary was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother.

Mary was born in Taishan, China on November 5, 1942. She and her family moved to Hong Kong when she was a teenager and then the family moved to San Francisco, California in 1971. Mary married Howard on October 15, 1974 and shortly after, she moved to Detroit, Michigan with Howard. George, their first child, was born in 1976 and their second child Sharon was born in 1977. The family lived in Detroit's Chinatown until they moved to Taylor, Michigan in 1983. Mary worked as a Chinese restaurant waitress for many years before retirement. She enjoyed baking both Chinese and American treats, listening to classic Cantonese oldie songs, and constantly telling her kids to bring a jacket in case it gets cold. Mary and Howard recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2024!

She is survived by husband Howard; son George (Gail) and granddaughter Gwen; daughter Sharon (Ted); sister Lai Har Lee, nephew Terence (Wendy) and family, niece Cindy (Cliff) and family; brother David (Sylvia) and nieces Choy and Tiffany. Mary is also survived by many loving relatives, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and long-time friends in the U.S., Canada, Hong Kong, and China. She is preceded in death by her mother Wai Ying Choy, father Yat Louey, and brother-in-law Kim Ho Lee.

Mary will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A heartfelt thanks goes out to the staff at Corewell Dearborn Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Corewell Dearborn Hospital, Visiting Angels Dearborn, and MDWell for taking great care of Mary over the last year.

Visitation will be held at the Taylor location of Howe-Peterson Funeral Home on Saturday, April 5th, 2025 from 2-5pm.
