Michael G. Freuhauf

Michael G. Freuhauf was born on August 22, 1947 at the Mt. Carmel Hospital in Detroit to Richard and Gertaline Freuhauf. Sadly, he passed away alone in his Dearborn, MI home on August 13, 2026.

Michael is survived by his two younger brothers, Fred and Gary.

Mike had attended Snow elementary school and then Edsel Ford High School in Dearborn, as well.

Mike had many interests, such as photography, classical music, exercise, and playing flamenco on his guitar (both of which he was very good at!). He also loved animals and that included snakes. He often would fondly recall how he and his brother Fred would go scouting for snakes and frogs or other reptiles because they fascinated him so much. He even had two caged snakes (a Milk snake and a Grass snake) as pets. And when Mike and I married on August 8, 1981 in the town of Grand Marais, MI, it was months before I was able to sleep soundly with those two snakes in the same house with me! And during our marriage, we both developed and even stronger and deeper bond because of our mutual love of animals. Mike was quite the animal rights activist, donating his time and money for many good causes, for which I know those charities will miss him too! We had a respectful and mutually agreed upon divorce on November 15, 2001, and remained best friends for the rest of his life.

I feel so blessed to have had the awesome experience of having him in my life for all those years.

As Mike told me, “ we will meet again on the other side.”
