Michael
Stetler
October 3, 1965 – May 14, 2020
On Thursday, May 14 th , 2020, Michael Joseph Stetler of Southgate, Michigan passed away at the age of 54.
Michael (Mike) was born on October 3, 1965 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Joe and Mary Stetler (Wojda). Following graduation from John F. Kennedy High School, Mike joined the United States Navy where he served his country on the U.S.S. Capodanno. For the last 20 years, Mike worked as a plumber at Greektown Casino in Detroit. He raised two sons, Anthony and David, and a daughter, Jessica.
Mike had a fun and loving spirit that he shared with those around him. He enjoyed various hobbies including hunting, fishing, camping, and watching his Detroit sports teams. He had a passion for music of all kinds, which eventually led to him being a member of the Praise Team at Grace Church where he was able to marry his love of music and Christ. Mike also spent time serving there as a Deacon.
However, Mike's greatest joy in life was his family and friends. He embraced all those he came across and was quick with a smile and a hug. He was never afraid to tell anyone that he loved them and was sure to remind you every time you saw him. He truly was a man larger than life, with an even larger heart.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Joe. He is survived by his mother, Mary; his children Jessica (Trevor) Stoltz, Anthony (Diana) Stetler and David Wheeler; his sister Lisa (Rick) Phillips; his niece Kenden (Ross) Vandenburg and many other family members and friends.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions to honor Mike may be made to the charity of your choice.
Due to the extenuating circumstances brought on by the Coronavirus (COVID-19), memorial and burial details are to still be determined. The family will provide an update here once the specifics have been finalized.
The family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support during this very difficult time.
