Michael Joseph Torchia, 95, of Taylor, Michigan passed away on Saturday afternoon, June 11, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Plains, Pennsylvania, Michael was the son of the late Pasquale and Carmella (Basta) Torchia.  He was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School in Plains, Pennsylvania, and was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. Michael was employed by Kelsey Hayes for over 30 years and was an active member of American Legion Post 67. Michael enjoyed golfing, playing shuffleboard at the Legion, cheering the Miami Dolphins with his son and grandsons, and spending time with family and friends.  Michael and his wife, Louise, loved to dance and were known to clear the dance floor.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Torchia, on September 13, 2002; brother, Frank Torchia; and sisters, Josephine Bartolomei, Elizabeth Holko, and Mary Angela Torchia.

Surviving are his daughter, Tina Stanley (Southgate, MI), and son, Michael Torchia, Jr. and his wife, Shannon (Murfreesboro, TN); grandsons, Raymond Stanley (Southgate, MI), Michael Torchia III (Wyandotte, MI), and Brandon Torchia (Wyandotte, MI); daughter-in-law, Rita Torchia (Wyandotte, MI); and several nieces and nephews and many loving friends and neighbors of Banner Street.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 10:00am-12:00pm and the funeral service will be held at 12:00pm located at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home Taylor Chapel 9800 Telegraph Road Taylor, MI 48180. Interment will be at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery in Flat Rock, MI.
