Our precious mother, Mildred Bunting, passed on to greater glory on April 21, 2018. Millie was a long-time resident of Dearborn. She came to this area in 1946 after she married Robert Bunting, whom preceded her in death in 1996. She was a stellar example of motherhood, and she was a person who lived her Christian life not just in talk, but in action. She was born in South Georgia in 1919 and grew up with a "can do" attitude in a family of eight children. She was greatly influenced by her grandmother, America Dinkins, who taught her how to entertain and how to be generous to everyone. Her young adult years were spent in Jacksonville, Florida, where she worked at King Edward Cigars in a variety of positions from switchboard operator to accounts payable clerk. Later she met Robert Bunting on a blind date and then moved to Michigan. She was very involved at First United Methodist Church in Dearborn until her health started to decline. To those that really knew her, she was an inspirational force even to the last days of her 98 years of life. She will be greatly missed, but she left an amazing legacy that has already galvanized three generations and through them she will continue to influence many more generations to come.

She leaves behind two sons Fred Bunting and his wife Becky, and Ken Davis and his wife Sharon, along with her daughter, Janet Gray and her husband John. Her son Robert Leon Davis preceded her in death in 1997. She had seven grandchildren - Kenny Davis, Caroline Davis, Freddie Bunting, Robert Bunting, Tracie Sanford, Lindsey Gray and Laura Gray. In addition, she had eight great-grandchildren – Alex Bunting, Evan Bunting, Tessa Bunting, Ella Sanford, Addison Sanford, Jacob Sanford, Evelyn Bunting, and Abigail Bunting.

Visitation will be Friday, April 27, from 5:00-8:00 pm at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, at 22546 Michigan Ave, Dearborn, MI 48124 (313) 561-1500.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 28, at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church on 22124 Garrison St, Dearborn, MI 48124 (313) 563-5200. Gathering at church from 10:00 a.m.

Graveside services will follow the funeral at Roseland Park Cemetery, 29001 Woodward Ave., Berkley, MI 48072, (248)541-1154.
