Nancy Lee (Morris) Shelton, age 79 of Monroe, Michigan, sadly passed away at 4:22pm on Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Trinity Health Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan, surrounded by family.

Nancy was born on Friday, September 1, 1944 in Harriman, Tennessee, to the late George Washington Morris and Myrtle May (Reed) Morris.  She was one of four children. Nancy attended school in Harriman, Tennessee. She was of the Baptist faith.

She married the love of her life, Lloyd Gene Shelton, on March 11, 1961 in Detroit, Michigan, and was a devoted wife for 42 years before becoming a widow. She cared for her 6 children endlessly. She worked at Great Lake Steel in Ecorse, Michigan for 25 years before retiring and enjoying her retirement in Elkton, Kentucky where she would drive Mennonite families to school, for errands or vacations. She later moved back to Michigan to be closer to her family. She loved to shop, drive, and travel (she once said while buying a car, "I didn't buy this car not to put miles on it!"), crocheting and embroidery (every family member has a blanket, pillow case, or slippers of some sort), reading mysteries, figuring out puzzles of any kind, playing Nintendo games, and making her peanut butter pie (which was fought over), banana pudding, and cornbread. She loved her dogs Big Boy, Peanut and Gizmo and all her great grand-puppies. She was always full of smiles and stories.

Nancy is preceded in death by her youngest daughter Laura Blanch Thomas, her second youngest daughter Sandra Faye Jevahirian, her dear husband Lloyd Gene Shelton, her two older Veteran brothers; Luther Leon Morris, and James Morris, as well as her parents.

As a loving mom, she is survived by Martha (Wayne) Ireland of Monroe, Michigan; Patricia (Keith) McGuire of Brighton, Michigan; Darryl Shelton of Taylor, Michigan; Lloyd Jr (Jennifer) Shelton of Redford, Michigan.

A loving sister to Wilma Jean McGeorge of Land O Lakes, Florida.

A Grandma who loved all of her grandchildren: Jennifer (Jerry) Holman of Sevierville, Tennessee; Kelly McGuire of Brighton, Michigan; Nicholas Shelton of Searcy, Arkansas; Thomas (Samantha) Paquette II of Toledo, Ohio; Chantel Jevahirian of Woodhaven, Michigan; John (Abby) Paquette of Adrian, Michigan; Sarah McGuire of Brighton, Michigan; Brittney Jevahirian of Woodhaven, Michigan; Ashley (Travis) Packer of South Lyon, Michigan; Katie (Randy) Wilson of Barbourville, Kentucky; Elizabeth McGuire of Brighton, Michigan; Olivia Thomas of Corbin, Kentucky; Samantha McGuire of New Hudson, Michigan and Brandon Shelton of Redford, Michigan.

An adoring great grandmother to 24 great grandchildren.

A doting Aunt to several nieces and nephews.

Per her wishes, a Memorial Service will be held in her honor on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 1:00pm at Munson Park in Monroe, Michigan.
