Obituary

Nola June Wasson Mills was born on April 26, 1937 and passed away on January 25, 2013. She was born in Wyandotte, MI to Charles and Leora Wasson, the second child of six. Nola attended Baptist Bible Seminary of Binghamton, NY. Upon returning home, she became the head cashier for Food Fair. She also worked for a number of years as a social worker for the Department of Health and Human Services with the State of Michigan. She married Ernest Mills in 1975. They made their home in Flat Rock, Michigan, and were married for 14 years before Ernie passed in December 1989. Nola was a faithful member of Evangel Baptist Church in Taylor, MI, where in later years she helped with a Good News Club in the Public schools. She loved visiting shut-ins and people in nursing homes. She never met a stranger. When she came into a room, she brought laughter and encouragement. She will always be lovingly remembered as "Aunt LaLa" to her nieces and nephews. She traveled as much as she could to graduations and weddings of her nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Linda. Her survivors include her sister, Kathleen Thomas, her brothers, Donald (Lucille), Douglas (Norma), and David (Joan), and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be missed not only for her love for all of us, but because of the spirit of living she had! Even in her last days, she was thinking of others and making new friends. We picture her in heaven laughing with the angels and saying, "Are we having fun, yet".
