Norma
O'Bryan
August 2, 1925 – September 22, 2023
Norma Lee O'Bryan (nee Reeves) of Dearborn, Mi passed away on September 22, 2023 at the age of 98.
Beloved wife of the late James "Pat" O'Bryan.
Loving mother of Colleen O'Bryan, Janet (Anthony) Vettraino, Patrick (Elaine) O'Bryan, Donald (Carrie) O'Bryan, Mary O'Bryan and Matthew (Ewa) O'Bryan.
Caring grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Norma was born in Detroit, Michigan and married Pat O'Bryan in 1950. Norma always wanted a big family and her and Pat were blessed with 6 children raising them in Livonia, Michigan. Norma very much had a "Pioneer Spirit" and this was displayed when she drove five of her children on a camping trip across the country in 1972 during Summer vacation. Norma and her children stayed at campgrounds in 12 states.
Family was very important to Norma and always hosted Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays as she loved the big family atmosphere. Having a large family, she was always driving kids to one function or another to the point where Pat bought her a "Checker" taxi driver hat!
Norma had a very strong spirit and was generous with both her time and advice. Her favorite charities included the Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit and the Monastery of the Blessed Sacrament in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
In 1991, Pat passed away and Norma took over as President and CEO of KLA Laboratories, Inc, the family's sound and communications company. Although Norma never officially worked at KLA and bravely took on the responsibility while enabling and guiding her children to take over the company in the future.
Norma loved traveling the world visiting over 30 countries. She especially loved visiting China having 3 trips there alone. Her favorite journey was a trip to Peru where she explored Machu Pichu and the Andes Mountains.
Norma loved dogs, was a big Detroit Tigers fan and loved watching the Food Network. She was never afraid of new technology. Even at the age of 98, she loved playing word games and Solitaire on her iPhone and iPad winning over 18,000 games!
