Norman Albert
Waronek
January 4, 1942 – August 25, 2021
Norman Waronek, of Garden City, passed away on August 25th, 2021 at the age of 79.
Loving father of Tracy (Randy) Dunn, Rich Waronek and Michael Waronek.
Proud grandfather of Tyler, Trevor, Taylor and Tara.
He also leaves behind his former wife, Florence Nowicki
Norman, or as most people knew him, Norm was born and raised in Detroit. Him and his childhood friends loved to play baseball. One day, much to the delight of him and his buddies, they were approached by none other than Mr. Al Kaline! Kaline took the boys to his garage where he let each of them pick out a baseball bat. This would be one of Norm's prized posessions.
36 years of Norm's life was dedicated to his career with both GM and Detroit Diesel. He put his heart and soul into his job and worked many long hours to provide a good life for his 4 children, Tracy, Richard and Michael.
Norm's love for baseball continued and he became the best baseball coach around. He was known for his teaching of how to hit the ball. "Use your door knockers". This became a big part of the games with the families and fans watching the games. You could hear it being yelled from the sidelines, "Use your door knockers"!
Putting a smile on everyone's face was Norm's specialty. He never met a stranger and would talk to anyone and everyone. His best buddy, Jerry, worked for a party store. Norm would spend hours in the store where he got to know most of the customers.
Norm loved to spend time outdoors. Spending time with his cousin up north hunting, hanging out playing cards and enjoying a few beers was something he really enjoyed. While at home, he would often be out cutting the lawn or sitting in the back yard feeding the animals and tending to his pond. The squirrels never had to peek in his window because the bird feeders were always full.
Norm's friendly personality, love of people and one liners gained Norm countless friends. Anyone who was fortunate enough to meet Norm will miss him greatly. But we know, as he'd say, "I'll be laughing all the way to heaven".
