Odessa Marie
Mullins
December 21, 1946 – September 8, 2025
Odessa Marie Mullins
Odessa "Gigi" Mullins, 78, passed away peacefully at her home in Taylor, Michigan, on September 8, 2025 - the place she had lovingly called home for 50 years. Odessa was surrounded by her beloved great and great, great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her dad Kiah Mullins of Harts Creek WV and mother Pearlie (Shelton) Mullins of Harts Creek, she is proceeded in death by her brother Jimmie "Dorsey" Mullins of Harts Creek WV and his wife Lillie (Newton) Mullins of Piketon OH, niece Kimberly (Kelly) Mullins of Detroit MI, and great nephew Travis Bielat of Trenton MI.
Born in Harts, West Virginia, on December 21, 1946, Odessa grew up with a deep connection to her roots. She graduated from Chapmanville H.S. in 1963 at the age of 17. She was a proud member of her hometown community, where she organized her high school reunions and family gatherings each year and cherished lifelong friendships.
Odessa built an impressive career as an executive secretary to the Vice President of Ford Credit, where she worked for more than 34 years before retiring in January of 2002. She was admired by colleagues for her professionalism, grace, and keen attention to detail.
Known affectionately as "Gigi," Odessa embraced life with joy, humor, and kindness. She loved traveling and capturing the beauty of the world through her photography. Music was a lifelong passion – she played the piano for many years and found happiness in melodies old and new. She was quick-witted, articulate, and always ready to lend a helping hand without expecting anything in return.
Odessa had a flair for fashion and an unmistakable love of shoes – especially high heels, often reminding others that "beauty is pain." She adored coffee at any hour, treasured time with family, and prayed faithfully for those she loved. Her resilient spirit carried her through many challenges, always strengthened by her steadfast faith in the Lord.
Odessa will be remembered for her kind and generous heart, radiant smile, and vibrant soul who touched countless lives. Her presence will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in the memories of all who knew and loved her.
