Patricia Fay
Akers
April 9, 1953 – March 3, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of Patricia Akers, beloved wife of Pastor Rodney Akers, dedicated mother, and cherished member of Macedonia Free Will Church congregation, who passed away on March 3, 2025. She was 71 years old. Preceded in death by her parents, Dewey Cox Jr. and Bessie Louise Cox, 2 brothers James Leroy Cox & Bobby Joe Cox.
Patricia is survived by her loving husband Rodney of 54 years. Dear mother of Tammy Fay (Robert) Farr, Carol Ann (Jerry) Carroll, and Misty Lynn (Robert) Hosburgh. Caring grandmother of Kaitlyn (David) Evanoff, Kylee (Ryan Messer) Carroll, Khloe Carroll, Logan Farr, Sydney Hosburgh, Ethan Hosburgh. Great grandmother of Ryder Messer, and Rya Messer. Loving sister of Patsy (Timothy) Barnett. Patricia is also survived by her furry companion Dale Rodney.
Patricia was a woman of unwavering faith and profound devotion to her beliefs. As the pastor's wife, she served alongside her husband with love, grace, and a gentle spirit. Her commitment to her faith was evident in every aspect of her life, as she poured her heart into the church and its ministry, always striving to reflect the love of Christ in all she did.
A lover of reading, Patricia found great joy and inspiration in the works of Mary Baxter, whose spiritual writings deeply resonated with her. These books were a source of reflection and strength, guiding her through life's challenges and reinforcing her commitment to her faith.
In addition to her spiritual devotion, Patricia had a vibrant personality and a love for life. She loved shopping, shopping was therapeutic for Patricia it gave her time to relax and browse for new treasures. Yet, her most endearing tradition was her Saturday night ritual. Before attending Sunday service, she would spend time painting her nails, making sure they were perfectly manicured for church, a small act of care that reflected her desire to present her best self before God and her church family.
Her love for gospel music was infectious. Whether in the car, at home, or at church, gospel music was the soundtrack of her life, lifting her spirit and spreading joy to everyone around her.
Patricia leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and service that will never be forgotten. While her presence will be greatly missed, we take comfort in knowing she is now in the presence of the Lord she faithfully served.
"Well done, good and faithful servant."
