Patricia D.
Martin
December 31, 1947 – October 5, 2022
Patricia Martin Passed away on October 5 th 2022, at the age of 74. Beloved mother of Peter (Carrie), Suzanne (Scott) and Megan (Josh).
Proud grandmother of Kaitlin (Rob), Travis (Natalie), Brooke, Joe, Gabby, Taylor, Liam, Danny, Ariana, Ella, Sawyer and Reese.
Devoted Fiancé of the late Lou Skeen.
Cherished lifelong friend of the late Marilyn Rausch.
She also leaves behind many loving family members and friends.
Patricia was born in the city of Geelong, situated in the province of Victoria, Australia. Being an only child, Patricia grew up with her cousins who were like siblings to her. She maintained close contact with them when at the age of 16, she moved to the U.S. and settled in the Dearborn area and started a family.
She gave birth to 3 beautiful children, Peter, Suzanne and Megan. While raising her family, Patricia worked as a waitress at Leo's Coney Island. However, all the meals in her home were made by her from scratch. There was no place for prepackaged food in her kitchen. She was an excellent cook so many of her dishes had a unique Australian flare. Back home they would use a lot of lamb and prepared things a little different.
When she traveled, Patricia particularly liked going somewhere that she could spend time by the ocean. Listening to the waves come up the beach was so relaxing. She also loved going to the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee. Taking in the magnificent views brought her such a feeling of peace. Patricia travelled back to Australia many times throughout the years to visit family and always made it a point to take a trip down the Great Ocean Road which she loved dearly.
Fall time in Michigan was something she truly loved. She enjoyed seeing the colors of the leaves change and the weekend trips to the farmer's markets. She loved discovering the unique treasures you could only find at these kinds of places. She would also bring home fresh vegetables to create some of those delicious meals she was known for.
Patricia was a private person and didn't have a huge group of friends. She didn't find it necessary. She did have a few close friends that she could count on to always be there for her and that is all she needed. Her grandchildren were the light of her life throughout the last few decades. Those who were lucky enough to be let into her tight circle got to know a truly wonderful and loving person. She will be missed by all she leaves behind.
Patricia loved flowers and gardening and was particularly fond of peonies and hydrangeas. Please consider planting a flower in your garden to symbolize her memory.
