Pat was born in Detroit on February 15 th , 1940 to her Parents, Lawrence and Rose Grondziak. She was the baby of the three Grondziak children. Larry was the oldest and Elaine was the middle child. Pat was raised in Dearborn and graduated from from Fordson High School in 1958. She met and fell in love with a handsome young man named Wilfred while in high school. It wasn't too long before they married and started a family.
Pat and Wilfred raised their 3 boys Bill, Ron and Gary in Dearborn Heights. Her family meant the world to her and she was never more excited than when she became a grandma. She enjoyed knowing what was going on in each grandchild's life. She loved the details! She was so excited to meet her first great grand baby in December 2021. Though she did not make it, she was the first and only one to be told the sex and name of the child and was very proud of that honor.
Being a strong and independent woman, Pat began her career at Grand Trunk Western Railroad in 1959 and decided to stop working in 1970 to stay home with her youngest son, Gary. When Gary started kindergarten in 1975, she went to work part-time for Wolverine Gasket with her best friend Bev, where soon she was asked to move to full time. Her expertise was in payroll administration and she retired in 2005. Unfortunately, Wilfred passed away before she retired, but Pat pushed on and worked another 9 years before retiring.
Before Wilfred passed away, they both enjoyed bowling, keeping their yard precisely manicured and most of all, quarterly visits to Las Vegas. They purchased a rental home in Las Vegas hoping to retire there together. After Wilfred passed away, she took at least annual trips to Las Vegas with their best friends Bev and Jerry. Recently she enjoyed going to casinos across Michigan and playing penny slots, never more than 5 cents on a pull!
Shopping for clothes and knick knacks was one of her favorite things to do. She loved to shop by herself or with friends and family. She always found the deals and came home with new clothes. Recently, she used her iPad to shop online and loved getting packages from UPS and Prime.
Pat loved her iPad. She used it for monitoring Facebook, shopping and playing slot machines on line. She used Facebook to keep up with her children, grandchildren and extended family. She was so proud of all her grandchildren, she often boasted about what each one was doing on that particular day.
Pat was a strong, tough, independent, frugal woman with strong convictions. She stood up for what she believed in and had no tolerance for nonsense. Her blunt honesty gained her a lot of respect over the years.
She leaves behind family and friends who will miss her dearly and always cherish the memories of the time spent with her.
Following the service, the family would like to cordially invite you to join them for a "Celebration of Patricia's Life" at 5pm at Patricia's home.
