Patricia Catherine Uetz (née Ruddy) died of complications from heart disease on October 9, 2021, surrounded by her family. Known as Pat, she was 85 years of age and is survived by her children, Patricia Uetz, Col Patrick Uetz, U.S. Marine Corps (Ret.) (CAPT Ann Uetz, Nurse Corps, U.S. Navy (Ret.)), Hon. Mary Beth Kelly, Kathy Carmody (Ray), Maureen Callahan (Jerry), Ann Marie Uetz and Jennifer Hastings (Chris). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lily Carmody, Megan Callahan (Zac), Elizabeth Ronchetto, Kevin Callahan, LCpl Conor Uetz, U.S. Marine Corps, Jackson Kelly, Jack Carmody, Ailene Uetz, Katie Hastings and Ali Hastings, and by her step granddaughter Erin Good (Jason), and great step granddaughter Charlie Good. Pat is also survived by her sisters Mary Creager and Nancy Babiuch, and her brother Martin "Bud" Ruddy (Karen), and many nieces, nephews and friends. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Ellen Ruddy, who immigrated from Ireland and quickly made their home in Toledo, Ohio. Pat was born there, on April 7, 1936. She graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. Pat moved to Dearborn, Michigan in 1958, where she began a nursing career that would span forty years, and raised her family.

Pat is remembered for her love of family, gardening and quilting. She was blessed with a green thumb and used that gift to maintain a beautiful yard of roses and other perennials. Pat was also a talented quilter, crafting hand-stitched quilts for each of her children and grandchildren over the past twenty years.  She loved spending time after her retirement with her grandchildren, creating many years of wonderful memories that will always be with them. She enjoyed traveling with her family, particularly to Saugatuck each summer with all of her kids and grandchildren, and to Hawaii and California to visit her son and his family over the years.

A memorial Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 22430 Michigan Avenue, Dearborn, Michigan, on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Michigan Nurses Foundation ( www.michigannursesfoundation.org/ ).
