Peggy Jean Neighbours passed away July 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on January 3, 1942, in Burns, Dickson County, Tennessee, to the late Floyd Michael Carter and Mattie Katherine (Welch) Carter.
On April 16, 1960, Peggy married the love of her life, Jerry Neighbours. Their love story began with a whirlwind romance, as they married just two weeks after meeting—a testament to the deep bond they would share throughout their lives.
Peggy was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and the heart of her family. She found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved. Whether she was preparing a home-cooked meal or spending time with her children and grandchildren, Peggy's kindness, warmth, and nurturing spirit made everyone feel at home.
She leaves behind her beloved children: Pamela (Chuck) Kainz, Tina (David) Elsey, Patricia (Chuck) Carter, Jerry (Andrea) Neighbours, Tessa (Larry), Janella (Randy) Smith, Justine (Matthew) Bemis, and James (Karen) Neighbours.
Peggy was the proud grandmother of 21 grandchildren, great-grandmother of 42 great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandmother of 4 great-great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love, strength, and devotion will continue through the generations she cherished so deeply.
Peggy will be remembered for her generous heart, unwavering dedication to her family, and the countless memories created around her table. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
