Pappas, Peter age 86, passed away on January 12, 2021. Beloved Husband of Nicki for 59 years. Dearest Father of Christine Pappas (Mark) Ponder, and Peter (Rachel) Pappas. Loving Papou of Alexis, Stefani, Matthew, Samantha, Kody, Raegan, Judah, Rose, and Lincoln. Also, survived by his Sister, Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews. Peter was born in Florina, Greece in 1934. He immigrated to the United States at 19 years old by himself. Peter only had a few dollars in his pocket. Peter learned the English language on his own, and he also learned the trade of cooking. Peter was an accomplished Chef with several accreditations. He owned and operated three restaurants and served at dozens of other restaurants. Peter worked his entire adult life in restaurants until November of 2020. Peter was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. His Sergeant only wanted Peter to cook for him. He officially nicknamed Peter "Peppy" because his name was so long. His legal name was Panagiotis Papatraikos when he came to the United States but he changed it to Peter Pappas after serving in the military. Peter enjoyed playing cards with his friends, he enjoyed yard work around the house, and celebrating special holidays with his family. Peter was Loved and Respected by his family! Funeral Services will be held from the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home and Cremation Center 9800 South Telegraph Rd. Taylor, MI. on Friday, January 15, 2021 at 7P.M. Visitation will be held from 2P.M.-8P.M. at the Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery with Military Honors . The day and time of Burial to be determined.
