Ralph Boyer was a wonderful man that lived a wonderful life. He was a handyman and had many hobbies. After graduating with honors from Munger Trade School, he spent over 47 years dedicated to the wood shop at the Ford Motor Company Design Center. He spent long hours developing future vehicles, making wood models of new designs.

In 1968 Ralph began the construction of the home he would raise his family in and where he would spend the rest of his days. Before there was even a roof on the home, Ralph moved in until it's completion in March, 1969 when his family moved in to join him.

Many a day was spent in the garage. He had a passion for what they call "survivors" and was very proud of his collection of rare classic cars. Many awards were won at various shows across the country. His pride and joy was his 1938 Packard 1605 convertible sedan.

When Ralph wasn't creating things of wood or working in the garage, you could count on him enjoying his beautiful yard. His lot sits on over an acre where he would design and redesign the landscape. Over time he added 3 ponds. One in front and two in back, one stocked with an array of colorful Koi fish that he loved to watch and care for. You could also find many gardens and even a dry creek that meandered through the yard.

With a large lot comes continuous maintenance. He had a tractor that could mow the lawn and plow the snow. He would let his son wrench on it, clean it and perform other maintenance on it, but he wouldn't let him ride it. The jobs requiring the tractor were Ralph's and Ralph's alone!

Ralph was a stubborn and independent man with a soft heart. His memory will go on in the hearts of all of those that he has touched through his life's journey. Ralph's was truly a life well lived.

Ralph Boyer, of Dearborn Heights, passed away July 22, 2019 at the age of 85. Beloved father of Ralph Jr (Lynn), Jeff (Theresa) and Steve (Jen). Loving grandfather of Jonathan and the late Matthew.
