Reda June Hoerl Watson, 96, of Chattanooga, Tennessee passed away Sunday, June 12, 2026.
We remember what our Savior Jesus Christ has done through His servant Reda.
Reda was born in Dearborn, Michigan on March 11, 1930, to the late August W. Hoerl and Adeline M. Kuehl Hoerl. She received the gift of Holy Baptism at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Dearborn. After growing up in Waltz, Michigan with many surrounding relatives, she was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waltz on April 18, 1943.
The Hoerl family moved into what was then Dearborn Township (later Dearborn Heights), Michigan in 1944. She met the love of her life, Donald (Fritz) Watson, who moved in across the street from her in 1948 after returning from an enlistment in the US Navy. They were married on April 22, 1950, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Dearborn.
Reda served for many years as a bookkeeper at various businesses in the Detroit area, for the City of Dearborn Heights, and most notably, as the treasurer for Our Redeemer Lutheran Church for more than 30 years.
Reda and her family hosted many family gatherings for a large extended family centered on lively sessions of Pinochle and Euchre.
Very physically active, she enjoyed roller skating with grandchildren well into her 70s. Besides being devoted to her Savior, Reda was totally devoted to her family, including providing extensive care for her husband and mother during their end of life.
Reda spent the last years of her life at American House Assisted Living in Chattanooga near Jim and Ann.
We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ our Lord, for our sister, Reda.
God blessed their union with two sons, Michael (Ann Crafton) Watson and James (Ann) Watson; 6 grandchildren, Erika (Kurt), Joshua (Dominque), Jennifer, Nathaniel (Kourtney), Conor (Lauren), and Colin (Misty); and 7 great-grandchildren, Kayla, Calum, Blane, Gavin, Barrett, Warner, and Bowen.
In addition to her parents, Reda was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald.
In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial contribution to Belvoir Christian Academy, 800 Belvoir Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37412
