Richard W. Lentz of Dearborn, Michigan passed away on Sunday, February 27 th , 2022. Richard was born on October 1, 1941 in Standish, Michigan to Charles and Leola Lentz (Wycoff).
Richard graduated from Fordson High School and then answered the call to service, serving honorably in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967. His service to his community continued on when he was hired at the Dearborn Fire Department on December 3, 1969 and lead to him meeting the love of his life, Linda. Richard and Linda married May 6, 1972 and raised a family who he loved very much.
Richard's firefighting career spanned 36 ½ years until his retirement on June 20, 2006. His passion for the job and knowledge of pumping and water hydraulics was without compare. He took joy in teaching the "rookies" all aspects of the job and truly loved his time with the Dearborn Fire Department. He took pride in his son, Jeffrey, and son-in-law Gregory in their own firefighting careers with the department. He loved his family, encouraging daughters, Angela in her teaching and school counseling career, and, Rebecca in her nursing profession. The grandchildren and their time with "Papa" always ended with some ice cream or other sweets.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Linda, son Jeffrey and wife Candice, daughter Angela, daughter Rebecca and husband Gregory. He also leaves behind one grandson, Jacob and three granddaughters, Danica, Sarah and Katie. Also, his two older brothers, Danny and wife Shaundell, and Kenny.
Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation at the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home on Thursday, March 3 rd , from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday, March 4 th from noon to 8 p.m.
The memorial service will be held Saturday, March 5 th at 11 a.m. at the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home followed by a luncheon at the American Legion Hall located at 3001 South Telegraph in Dearborn, Michigan.
Graveside service with Military Honors to be held on Monday, March 7th at 11 a.m. at All Saints Cemetery located in Waterford, MI.
