Richard Eric Nelson

Richard “Rick” Nelson, age 68, passed away on August 8, 2026 at Corewell Hospital, in Trenton, MI . He was born on February 20, 1958 to Orval and Hazel (nee Simonson) Nelson. He was a 1976 graduate of Truman High School. Richard worked in construction, demonstrating strong leadership, problem solving skills and a love for teaching others. He married Lisa (nee Vincent) Nelson at Unity Church in Southgate, MI, on April 7, 1990. He is survived by his wife, Lisa; his daughters, Kelsey (Andrew) Nelson-Hawley, Allyson Nelson, and Mackenzie Nelson; and grandchildren Chloe Charles, Rowan Hawley, Blake Hawley, and Harrison Hawley; and many siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends will be notified when a Celebration of Life is occurring.
