Robert (Bob) Curtis
June 30, 1927 – August 1, 2019
Bob Curtis passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 92 years. He was the beloved husband of the late Betty Curtis and loving father of Carol and Cliff (wife Carolyn). Bob was a supportive grandfather to Christine, David, Colette (husband Clay) and Gracie, and his great-grandson Leon brought a smile to his face.
Bob and Betty enjoyed over 30 years together and loved traveling in the US and abroad. Arizona was a favorite destination and they developed a passion for collecting jewelry, pottery and dolls crafted by American Indians. Other travel highlights included an adventure in Australia and New Zealand, and a cruise in Alaska.
Bob always had a soft spot for animals and was a long-time supporter of the Dearborn Animal Shelter. He and Betty doted on their Alaskan Malamute/German Shepherd dog Tammy and his kitty Shadow has been his constant companion for the last 13 years.
Bob has been a resident of Dearborn since childhood and was very fond of the Springwells Park neighborhood where he lived for the last 30 years. Special occasions were often celebrated at Dearborn Inn and he enjoyed regular visits to the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village.
Bob was a marketing manager in the auto industry for his entire career, including a memorable experience working at Ford Motor Company. He loved anything to do with cars – design, mechanics, racing – and looked forward every year to the Old Car Festival and the North American Auto Show.
Golfing was a sport that Bob enjoyed throughout his life. He played in the Dearborn Hills Men's Golf League for years and at age 89 was thrilled to hit his first hole-in-one!
Bob lived a full life and was a special person who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit , which operates the Dearborn Animal Shelter.
