Robert J. Groat passed away peacefully at home in the presence of his loving family on December 22, 2018 at the age of 57.

Beloved husband of Helga. Loving and proud father of his three sons: Bobby, Johnny, and Stevie. Cherished brother of Geri Antonucci, Joe Groat, and Wendy Abrahamson. Preceded in death by his dear parents, Sandra and Joseph Groat.

Bob was known for his selfless desire to help people – he proudly served as a paramedic, a firefighter, and a police officer in his early career. Most recently, he was a ramp and deice supervisor at Detroit's Metropolitan Airport. In his spare time he loved fishing and enjoyed to cook; passions that he passed along to his sons.

Family and friends will be gathering on Wednesday, December 26th, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Taylor Chapel of the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 9800 S. Telegraph Rd.

A celebration of life memorial service will take place on Thursday, December 27th at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home.
