Obituary

Robert C. Maxwell, 68, died peacefully at his home in Dearborn, MI, on Wednesday, November 7, 2018. Robert was a character throughout his entire life and loved people of all walks of life. His history of making kind relationships with both strangers and friends will live on beyond his abbreviated time on Earth. Robert was born August 26, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan, the eldest of two sons born to Claude & Blanche (Bahlke) Maxwell. He graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree and attained a Masters Degree in Industrial Design from University of Illinois. Robert ascended several management positions from Industrial Designer to Merchandising Manager to becoming VP Marketing Services for Schering Plough. During his tenure, he drew corporate and public acclaim for his work both in the work force and for piloting numerous non-profit causes. Robert was a diverse individual that took solace in being an in-house consultant to being the Easter Bunny at the White House and beyond. Robert will forever be remembered for his many 'skins' that he would become involving Frat Boy Bob, Hippie Bob, Corporate Art Boy Bob, Biker Bob, Clinical Director Bob, Steeple Chase Bob, Arab Bob, Cop Bob, Errol Flynn Bob, German Bob, Special Agent Bob, Desert/Native Bob and always Brother Bob. Robert will be sorely missed for his many stories (often repeated) of factual and often embellished renditions of times gone by. He had a light handed personal touch when greeting a little girl in the grocery store or in helping her find her mother. He had a special way about himself often viewed as a larger than life personality but was a soft and caring soul that would help anyone. A memorial service will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 13, 4-7pm with prayers at 7pm, all located at the Dearborn Chapel of Howe Peterson Funeral Home, 22546 Michigan Ave. Memorials may be made to Alma College, National Park Service or wishes of the family. Survivors include his brother James, 'sister' Mary Beth, nephew Grant and niece Beth. He was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Blanche Maxwell. Robert Maxwell will be forever missed for being the individual that he was but, NEVER forgotten for the unique and personable self that he was to all that knew him. God Bless Robert!
